Sterling Web Trader® Guide

A complete web-based trading solution designed for both stand-alone use and to provide existing STT users access to the markets while they are away from their desktop application.

The Desktop Header

Across the top of the STWeb desktop is the persistent header, which provides basic operational status and general user status indicators, as described below.

Also notice the Tab selections below the header and the Marquee field. These can be pinned/unpinned from the desktop using the function button on the upper right.

The header segments include:

  • Market status – Indicates the current operating status of the markets, generally indicating whether active trading is permitted.
  • Data connection status – Indicates the connection status to the real-time upstream data sources that are used to populate the windows on the STWeb desktop.
  • Market indices – Real-time display of the S&P 500, NASDAQ and Dow Jones indices. This display is not configurable by the user. It is displayed when the markets are open.
  • Current user – Indicates the identity of the currently logged in user. If the user has access to multiple accounts the pull-down selector can be used to switch from one account to another. In such cases, the User Settings window appears where the alternate user login can be selected. See section User Settings.
  • User’s position – TBD – need info here.
  • Marquee settings – Pull-down list for selecting the information to be persistently displayed in the single-line Marquee field that appears below the header. Note that you can turn off the Marquee entirely by way of the user settings (see section User Settings). You can also define the speed with which the Marquee data is refreshed.
